Although many findings of SLA are not directly applicable to English teaching, knowledge of SLA can help teachers understand why a particular English lesson is effective for language learning and why it is not. SLA can also help teachers develop instructional principles that represent valid ways to encourage student language learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Course Objectives<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Be able to summarize various theories of language learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Be able to describe ways of describing learner characteristics and their relationship with language learning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Be able to articulate typical patterns of language acquisition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Be able to describe the characteristics of a proficient speaker.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Be able to evaluate school English education through the perspective of SLA.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Materials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">All materials can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1I_H3spdaEmubYTt6Iho3XzeBrs9fm3BO?usp=sharing\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">We will be reading two books:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Brown, H.D., Lee, H.
