December 25: Discussion with Tamo Sensei

Tamotsu Sensei will try a two week lesson at a JHS for third year students. The lesson flow will be task-presentation-practice-task style. The content will be either Program 2 or 3 of Sunshine. Tamotsu Sensei will need to think of the following: 1) The objectives for this lesson style; 2) The types of tasks he will do to accomplish these objectives; 3) Pre and post tests he will conduct to evaluate the extent to which students were accomplishing these objectives.

Potential contributions of this research

  • Give teachers a concrete idea of what interaction is in JHS and how to facilitate it.
  • Develop a way to use tasks to help students learn textbook content. (Lesson flow)
  • Use tasks to improve students general fluency in interaction.
  • Lesson flow for facilitating learning of textbook language and skills in interaction.
