After you have decided a topic of interest, your next steps are to find and archive resources on that topic.

Pre-class Tasks

1. Set-up Zotero

Install Zotero on your computer

2. Write your topic of interest below

3. Prepare to Discuss the Main Ideas of 「先行研究の探し方」in 英語教育の研究

Please be ready to answer the following questions:

  1. Summarize the three reasons given for reading previous research on your topic.
  2. What kind of knowledge do you need before searching for previous research?
  3. Describe the four ways given to search for research.
  4. What are three ways that we can obtain actual papers or books? (p.48)
  5. What are the points for reading previous research?
  6. What are ways given for archiving (整理) research?
  7. After archiving the research, how do we connect it to our own research topics? (Section 3.3)
  8. How do we carry out our own research based on previous research? (Section 3.4)

James’ home page has links to sites to find references. Find three sources related to your topic and save them in Zotero.
