First, we gave the Jib and Tip tests.
What we learned from today’s word quiz:
Misa Misa: Clothing is uncountable: I want to get new clothing.
C. Chicken: She learned that recognition and distinguish are different words. Recognition means we understand what something is and distinguish means we can tell the difference between two or more things.
ティップ:「引く」という単語を「線」と一緒に使える。「線を書く」ではなく、「線を引く」
Kinopi: He learned about 笑窪. It is pronounced “ekubo” and means dimple.
Yuko: There is no word that means 目窪 in English. We translate is as “eye dimple.”
ジップ:決意の使い方を覚えました。ジップの例文は「大学に入る前に日本語を勉強する事を決意しました。ホッカイロも初めて見ました。
James: The spelling of some words doesn’t make sense. For example, opposite. However, I think that some words are misspelled because of confusion about English sounds so I think phonics is important.
Next time: We will do the overview of English education. Also I asked everyone to read the first 8 pages in “From Experience to Knowledge in ELT,” Chapter 3. Jip and Tip will learn 50 words and 10 sentences for 12/3.
